Great blue heron behind SARS

Great Blue Heron at SARS After a torrential rain yesterday, part of the same weather system that recently dumped two feet of snow on Colorado, the skies cleared this morning. So, I took a walk behind the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad for the first time in several weeks. There weren't as many birds as I had expected, but on the way back I came upon a Great blue heron wading in the stream. It was the first of that species I had ever seen in that location. It quickly flew behind some bushes upstream, but I managed to get close enough for a brief video clip, from which this image is extracted. Here is today's list of notable birds:
