Summer's here, and the time is right for dancing in the street
Or in my case, walking in the woods. That's what I did this lovely first morning of the summer behind the Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad, where I saw:
- Sharp-shinned hawk (high)
- Indigo bunting (M)
- Towhee (M)
- Red-bellied woodpecker
- Brown thrasher
- Goldfinch
- Bluebirds (juveniles & parents)
Plus, I heard a Black and white warbler, leaving no doubt that there is a breeding pair in that vicinity. The female hummingbird still shows up semi-regularly at our back porch.
On Bell's Lane in the evening, I saw an Orchard oriole or two, as well as a Willow flycatcher.
