I'm a Red Sox fan living in NY and went to a Sox-Angels game on August 19,2005. The Sox won in 10 innings with Curt Shilling getting the victory in relief. I think that this is a great stadium! Even though we sat in the upper deck the view was good and the incline isn't nearly as bad as Yankee and Shea stadiums. The concourses were very clean and wide and the amenities were nice and the employees and fans were friendly. Though the game was almost sold out, it didn't feel too crowded, except when we tried to get out of the parking lot, which took close to an hour because just about everybody drives there due to the suburban location and lack of public transportation options. That's the only negative I had. I was especially impressed because the stadium is 40 years old, yet is almost like a brand new stadium due to the renovations over the past 10 years or so. Too bad some other teams, like those in NY couldn't learn from the Angels.

I've been going here since I was a kid, and I can remember the days when then Anaheim Stadium was nothing more than a football stadium, that happened to have a baseball team. Long gone are those days. The new stadium (completely redeveloped in the 1990s) has quirky (but not too quirky) dimensions, good and affordable seating and solid amenities. The exterior is nothing special though the two giant helmets provide a unique (albeit a tad-cheesy) welcome gate. The center field waterfall is a hold-over from the Disney days (its the same rock used in some of the rides at Disneyland), and while a bit tacky gives the stadium a distinguishing feature. Though the location is not the best (a big parking lot off the freeway) and view isn't as nice a Dodger Stadium's (though it isn't bad by any means) I give Angel Stadium of Anaheim points for a commuter rail connection attached to the north of stadium. Now for God's sakes decide on a city name! My proposal: Go back to the old-school California Angels.
