Any stadium you can reach via subway gets bonus points! I watched the Red Sox take on the White Sox in July 1998; the hosts won easily, and one of their players hit a grand slam. I remember that the seats were too close together (I sat in the centerfield seats), and I remember the guy next to me anticipating the building of a new Fenway, which I didn't know anything about. Fortunately, they didn't tear Fenway down.
I don't recall much else about the stadium, besides being impressed by the green monster and the sharply-angled right field corner. I'd give Fenway a "9" except for the seats being too close together.

Back in 1994 I took a trip out east with my parents and my cousin, who at the time had a cable access sports show here in St. Louis. We stopped in Cleveland and made our way to Cooperstown and then Boston. Fenway has always been my favorite ballpark since I was a kid. Since way back then I always wanted to go to a game at Fenway.
Seeing a game there between the Sox and Bluejays was a thrill for me. I didn't so much pay attention to the game but just take in the sites and sounds of the worlds best ballpark. Sorry, but Wrigley does not hold that honor in my opinion (this has nothing to do with me being a Cardinal fan).
The best parts of my visit were going on the stadium tour and then being down on the field before the game with our press passes. Just thinking about all of the players and history of the field is almost too much to take. I enjoyed the great seats right behind home plate. I am so glad that the Red Sox have buried their plans to tear this gem down in order to build a new ballpark.

All my life I had heard the accolades about Fenway Park and just couldn't wait to experience it. My dissapointment was just as great as my anticipation. First, there are a minimal amount of seats along the foul lines (non of which are available except through scalpers). Much of the seating is past the right field foul pole and around through center field. These are "discounted" seats in most parks. Second, the price of the seats is absurd, for the cost of sitting in deep centerfield you could purchase a ticket along the foul lines in many ballparks. Third, the seats aren't very wide and the rows are ridiculously long. Fourth, the place is dirty, the finish course of the concrete on the row I was sitting in had been worn and there was food and dirt ground into the rock base of the concrete. Try to eat a hot dog looking at that!
My final comment is about the lack of kids. It isn't that there isn't any, it's just that there is so few in comparasion to other ballparks. When I asked a fan sitting next to me about it he made a comment about the price of seats and limited availability. That is sad!
On your rating scale I give Fenway a 1 only because you don't have zero.

I took oldest son to a night game between Yanks & Sox in '83. Many improvements have been made in the years since, so my comments may be irrelevant. It was cool but we had jackets & were OK. We sat midway up in LF field grand stand. Had poor view of LF foul pole & green monster, but good view of left fielder, when not guarding the line; 3d base side of the infield; fair view of CF. RF was too far to see well. I think most fans only get a good view of the area in front of them, as we did. Many say the old PA system was poor, & the structure where we sat had bad acoustics anyway. Park was clean, food good & fair priced. Grass was best shade of light green I've ever seen. Rest rooms not crowded, perhaps since it was a light crowd on a cool evening. We parked just behind the Green Monster. Though cars were crammed together, the guy assured he could move cars & I get me out when I wanted, as I knew my son would tire & want to leave early. Wrong; we left in the 7th & found we were stuck. Had to wait until the game was over. Yanks won, so that off-set all negatives.
I give it an 8, as it's one of the original MLB parks, and has class. It's worth a visit.

I have been to Fenway about 6 or 7 times, and every time fells like the first time you walk into the park. One improvement: considering that the NHL is thinking about a winter classic game here, could you make a proposed hockey diagram. the second "triangle" in left center does not exist. if i could give it a ten, i would.

My Dad told me that he works with the architecht that does the improvement to Fenway and that they can only fit about 200 mre seats in.

Fenway Park is Ballpark heven on Earth.Great views,new seats,lots of selections.The only thing is that you pay for a heven on earth.suites as I heard cost $10,000 dollars.Beer cost $6.75 one time me and my wife ordered a hot dog,clam chowder and a sprite that came out to $22.49 but the food is D-licous delicous yum yum I came here 26 times and each one is better than the last GO RED SOX!!!!

I went here during the 1998 season so hopefully some of the renovations have fixed the problems I encountered, but Fenway Park overall turned out to be a disappointment. Our seats were obstructed by support beams and a curving walkway in which fans would stop and watch a pitch or two before an usher reminded them to keep moving. The low-hanging upper deck also made the experience feel very claustrophobic. The history certainly can not be matched but the lack of quality (and affordable) seating put a major damper on the game. Hopefully John Henry's renovations of have alleviated some of these problems and made Fenway the wonderful experience it should be.

The best and the worst.
Best atmosphere outside and in. This is huge.
The best seating, closest to the infield, if you can afford box seats.
Great sausage with onions and peppers from street vendors.
Great souvenir shop.
Worst. No parking.
Cramped seating, if you're in the middle of a row do not have liquid before the game as a trip to the bathroom could cost you two innings.
Bad sight lines. Spend $40 to sit behind a pole that blocks your view of home plate.
Too many seats too far from the action.
Cost. Bring c-notes not twenties.
Detroit built a beautiful new ballpark, so did Cleveland. I've been to both and will go again. Can't say the same about Fenway.

You people complaining about the site lines, the dirt, and the narrow seats are in the same category as the idiot NASCAR fan I talked to the other day that said they should tear down the Indianapolis Motor Speedway because you can't see the other side of the track from the grandstand, nevermind the history and fabulous tradition that makes it part of the American fabric. FENWAY IS WHAT IT IS, A 100 YEAR OLD BUILDING WITH AND AMAZING HISTORY. Get over yourself and enjoy where you are.

As a Red Sox fan and Fenway enthusiast, my expectations were very high. However, unlike Wrigley, Fenway blasted away my high expectations. The entire complex was surprisingly imposing in size. The structure was in pristine condition, and most of the park looked brand new (other than the wooden seats that they have kept for nostalgic reasons). We sat just under the balcony past first base, with a stellar view of the Monster. Gomes and Napoli both went yard over the monster, and we witnessed a thrilling 11 inning battle with the Yankees. From what I could tell, there seems to be no bad place to sit at Fenway (other than behind a support beam). Every sight line strikes awe, and looking up at the famous marker above the press box as the sun sets behind third is something to behold. I took the tour the next day, and got to see the view from the esteemed Monster seating. There is nothing comparable, and there was nothing I could have done to prepare for such a shot. I can't wait to return.

My first MLB game ever was at Fenway during a visit to my grandparents in September 1983 when I was 12 years old. Our seats were along the first base line, maybe 3/4 of the way up - I remember the view being partially obstructed by the dreaded columns. I'd have to look it up for sure, but I think the game was against the Yankees, and the Sox won. I have the program stashed away - The cover is green, and it has a picture of Yaz's jersey on it. I don't remember him playing in that game, however.

I must admit I'm a Yankee fan 1st.Have been many times, and been to 7 or 8 other parks in mlb. But Cmon! 1st time I went(1984) I thought I was in a minor league or college park.This stadium is a joke. It's old ,the floors aren't even ,even! Parking is ridiculous forget tailgating. The seats are original from 1913. If your 160lbs. You might fit. Many seats face away from the action? In right field your facing the bullpen? There are like 2 dirty bathrooms in the whole place and just a couple years ago they got rid of the "troughts" to pee in. Very limited food selections compared to anywhere else, unless you want to get robbed outside on Yawkey way.Congestion and subways are very frustrating . You can park for $70 at a gas station that will take you a couple hours to get out after.
I go once or twice a year and if I was a season ticket holder or attended a lot of games I'd be pissed at these cheap owners for the highest ticket prices in baseball! Build a new one for the fans sake! I thought we would miss the old Yankee Stadium until my first game in a MODERN ballpark. The only ones who "belove" it , are john henry and his young wife who will inherit it someday.PS organist sucks.

I went to three O's - Sox games in September 2023. "Loge box" behind home plate G1, right field near Pesky's Pole G2, infield upper deck G3. Probably the upper deck were my favorite seats, you're so close to the action and foul balls are a matter of when not if. It was a beautiful experience in America's oldest park. Wrigley was my favorite place in the world before this trip (I'm not a Cubs fan) and I'm not sure which is better. Certainly the quirkiest dimensions for a park I've ever seen. G2 was 13-12 final and it was the wildest regular season game I've ever seen. Any time someone hits one over the monster it's so cool, your jaw will drop every time. Atmosphere was unmatched for a regular season game. Eye candy in every direction you look. Nitpicks are that yeah the food selections are limited and the outfield seats face the wrong way, but come on - it's baseball heaven.
